Highland Oaks Another Stop Along the Way of Greatness
As we wind our way down the trail we come to
Highland Oaks.
Located all the way down in Dothan, AL, this site offers three nine-hole championship courses.
Here's the deal with most of the courses on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. You better be there to play golf, because there isn't much else going on in these sleepy little towns. And this place is no exception.
Highland Oaks is comprised of
Highlands Course
Marshwood Course
Magnolia Course
Short Course
Highlands Course
This is the meat of the 3 nines. Mostly open for a go get it approach, except for a few lakes to negotiate. The 6th hole offers a great challenge with its peninsula green.
Marshwood Course
This nine is famous for the monster par 5 sixth. Look out, 701 yards from the tips. Good Golley Miss Molly! Then if you have any left in the tank you'll have to attack the 422 yard par 4 ninth which is a left to right dogleg, which many say is the best hole at the site.
Magnolia Course
Guess how this course got its name? You got it, a slew of Magnolias surround this beauty. You get to this course by walking a 1,000 ft wooden bridge over a southern swamp marsh. Look out below! The spotlight of this nine is the 416 yard 5th where a split level fairway offers options off the tee.
Short Course
You know the drill. A ton of par 3's. Go see how many you can birdie. Sharpen up those irons!
