Silver Lakes is a Diamond in the Rough

Silver Lakes is tucked away between the Appalachian foothills and the Talladega National Forest.

This course was named by Golf Digest as one of the nation's Great Value courses in the public category. It is made up of rolling terrain near the Anniston/Gadsden areas of Alabama.

It has three championship nines that in some areas will test your mental will.

As you play these courses you'll feel like you need a periscope at times as some of the par 4's have green some 30 to 40 feet above the fairway level.

The Heartbreaker nine is hailed by some as the toughest most challenging nine on the entire trail from the championship tees. For example the 450 yard par 4 ninth with water guarding the entire left side.

If you like tee choices then this course is for you. Up to 12 tee selections on some holes!

With courses dubbed "The Heartbreaker","The Mindbreaker" and "The Backbreaker" is easy to see that you'll not be having a picnic at Silver Lakes.

Pull out the map because this part of Alabama is not the easiest to get to.
